Originally from Norwalk, CT, Mr. Lam studied horn with Mr. Robert Brewer throughout high school before attending the University of Connecticut where he received degrees in Music Education (BA Music, BS Education) in 2009. While at UConn, Mr. Lam studied with Mr. Robert Hoyle and served as principal horn for the university’s wind ensemble and symphony orchestra. Mr. Lam was a founding member of the Armonia Brass Trio and in 2008; the trio was awarded the SURF Grant to conduct research in chamber performance practices with professional musicians in Barcelona, Zurich, Geneva and Milan.

Mr. Lam received his Master of Music degree in Horn Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2011. Studying horn under Mr. Michael Thornton, Mr. Lam served as the graduate assistant to the horn studio where he performed with the university’s wind symphony and symphony orchestra, instructed performance and education horn majors and performed with the graduate student Flatirons Brass Quintet. In May of 2011, the Flatirons Brass Quintet were artists-in-residence at Renmin University of China in Beijing where the quintet performed recitals and presented master classes.

Mr. Lam marched with the 2005 Crossmen and 2007 Boston Crusaders and has taught many marching groups around Connecticut including Rockville HS, Cheshire HS, Trumbull HS and the 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Lam also serves as an assistant swim coach with the Country Club of Darien in Darien, CT.

Currently, Mr. Lam is in his 5th year as Instrumental Director at Valley Regional High School and Group Lessons Teacher at John Winthrop Middle School in Deep River, CT. Mr. Lam resides in East Haven, CT with his wife Xianxi and enjoys playing music, eating ice cream and sunny days.
